DigitalDream EC300 Mach3 controller PCB inspection possible axis hack EC500 Novusun

I decided to tear down my second EC300 and take a closer look at the PCB. I would love to know what kind of eeprom they are using. The chip is labeled IC. I believe its a eeprom the holds axis count and serial number. I know the axis count info it not stored on the arm processor because I flashed mine many times. When I restored the bin file the access count showed up again. This makes me believe this info is stored on an external drive like that IC.
