Warning shots are illegal in many jurisdictions. Check your local laws. Anti-gun cities will be particularly rough on you! And even if it’s legal in your area, you are still responsible if you negligently hurt anyone or damage property. So it’s just inadvisable.

Every other year there’s a story of a woman being locked up because she shot a “warning shot” to scare off a burglar or abuser. She may have good intentions or genuinely want to protect her family. Jurisdictions that have an anti-gun bias won’t care! You can still catch a case. Get familiar with your local gun laws.
