Oil in Our Lamps

I was reminded this morning of Matthew 119:105 that God’s word is a lamp for our feel allowing us to have enough light for our next steps. It’s not a big huge spotlight for us too see too far ahead, because that would be too overwhelming!

The Parable of the 10 Virgins and their oil lamps also warn us to always have oil and be ready. This image points us to be filled and continually be refilled by the Holy Spirit. With God’s word and with the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, we will be equipped for the day. Come, Lord Jesus!
