THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD
TEXT: PSALMS 86:8, PSALMS 145:7

INTRODUCTION: This morning we will be continuing our series on the attributes of God. Today, I would like to specifically address the attribute of God’s righteousness. There are essentially two classifications by which His divine attributes can be categorized. These are His natural attributes and His moral attributes.
His natural attributes are those which pertain uniquely and exclusively to God’s very existence. They cannot be communicated to any other created being, namely angels or man. Therefore, God’s natural attributes are exclusive to Him and Him alone. Now, over the course of the last several weeks, we had already discussed in detail some of these attributes, these being His omniscience, omnipresence, and omnipotence. In other words, God alone is all-knowing, all-present, and all-powerful.

Now, the moral attributes of God are those which are relative to man, i.e. those which are revealed in God’s relationship with man. Another way of putting it is that they are revealed in his personal interaction with us. The righteousness of God, which I will be discussing today, falls into this category.

III. THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD DISPLAYED

CONCLUSION: So, in closing, we have learned that the attribute of God’s righteousness is a moral attribute. It is of divine origin, for there is none righteous outside the righteousness that only He can give. This is why all are commanded by our Lord to be born again by our Lord Jesus Christ. This command was given to Nicodemus in John 3:7 where Jesus says:
(John 3:7) "Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again."

Moreover, we learned that God’s righteousness is distinct and superior to that of all the other so-called gods, and how His righteousness is been displayed. Now allow me to close by reciting this about the righteousness of God. It’s called, “The Perfect Righteousness of God.”
