Therapist have trouble understanding what BPD is and its manifestation.
Most are not trained in working with PD, which is not the same as treating those without PD. There is often confusion over comorbidity (Complex BPD), therapists are worried or concerned due to increased rates of self-harm and suicide, and the challenge to manage resistance and willingness/willfulness.

To overcome this, you must get into alignment with your therapist. Many individuals with BPD feel their therapist just doesn't care, but I haven’t met one therapist who asked me about BPD that didn’t genuinely care about the welfare and success of their client with BPD.

We're going to talk about strategies –core/surface content, self-talk, adaptive strategies in this video as well. Regretfully, there is no magic wand. Therapists can only do so much, and it’s going to be up to you to take these strategies and incorporate them. Don’t fight yourself, or engage in self-attack. Resisting that old urge is tough, and it doesn’t go easy. It will go away by staying the course. You need encouragement, understanding and patience from your therapist but you must also have that with yourself as well. It's treatable and you can manage your issues with BPD.
