Winterizing the raised garden bed

After the Arctic blast came through and destroyed the vegetables in the cinder block raised garden bed. When I came down after Christmas I removed the dead plants by cutting the stem and leaving the roots in the soil to breakdown. This helps to feed the soil life and worms. Also making sure that the bed is mulched and covered helps the bed to stay a little warmer and heat up faster in the spring.
