Political activism
During the 2004 presidential election, DiCaprio campaigned and donated to John Kerry's (Jesuit Boston College) presidential bid. He gave $2,300 to Barack Obama's (Catholic) presidential campaign in the 2008 election, the maximum contribution an individual could give in that election cycle, and $5,000 to Obama's 2012 campaign DiCaprio endorsed Hillary Clinton (Jesuit Georgetown University) for the 2016 presidential election. In March 2020, DiCaprio attended a fundraiser for Joe Biden (Catholic) at the home of Paramount Pictures executive Sherry Lansing.

DiCaprio donated $10 million to support Ukraine, 2022.

DiCaprio has owned environment-friendly electric-hybrid vehicles and his home is powered by solar panels. However, his use of private jets and large yachts has prompted accusations of hypocrisy due to their large carbon footprints.
