Ukrainian Bunker Attack Analysis Frame by Frame

This video shows a Russian attack on a Ukrainian OP/LP or Observation Post / Listening Post. A Russian solder somehow flanked this OP/LP, threw a grenade and then assaults the position. The Ukrainians in the OP/LP are possibly wounded and concussed, but do not attempt to fight back or return fire. At one point, one soldier shouts the words: "Friendlies."

Some people have used this shouting as an indicator that the Russian soldier was wearing a Ukrainian uniform or armband. I have no proof of this. Rather, I believe that the soldiers could not understand how an attack from behind came so fast, so they were confused and their concussions didn't help either.

The Russian soldier tries to grab one of the soldier's rifles, but then decides that he is running out of time, and he fires at both soldiers. Then, the Russian's comrades take up defensive positions to prepare for counter attack.

I don't believe this is a war crime. Based on the video evidence, I believe that the Russian soldier made every attempt to get the Ukrainians to surrender, but he didn't have the time to ask them twice.

While tragic, this is war. And keep in mind that the real war crime is the Russian invasion of Ukraine in the first place.
