In this NCA live video, we discuss a serious issue involving the capture and slaughter of wildlife.

Wildlife used to be viewed as a public good to be protected and conserved, and now over the last few decades wildlife are being viewed as objects to be exploited for financial.

In the documentary No Accidents, biologists discuss the exploitation of wildlife, resulting in prion disease aka chronic wasting disease. Major centers of this disease in North America are Saskatchewan, Alberta, Wyoming, and Wisconsin. These provinces and states allow the capture and slaughter of wildlife. Biologists as shown in the documentary believe there is a connection between the disease and the exploitation of wildlife.

The spread of the prion disease poses a serious threat wildlife and potentially human beings especially through the consumption of diseased meat.
