Parashat Bo: Exodus 10:1—13:16 – The Essence of Firstborn

This week’s Torah Portion: Bo is found in Exodus 10:1—13:16. Join David as he hones in on the climax of the 10 Plagues, with the Plague of the Death of the Firstborn. Hashem instructed Moses to tell Pharaoh in Exodus 4:22-23: “My firstborn son is Israel. So I say to you, Send out My son that he may serve Me – but you have refused to send him out; behold, I shall kill your firstborn son.’” Why the emphasis on “firstborn”? Clearly the concept of “firstborn” goes deeper than meets the eye. As we will see, the concept goes back to the days of Creation and crystallizes in the revelation of Messiah Yeshua.
