Law and Grace - Part 9

The lesson on January 22, 2023 was part 9 of the “Law and Grace” study. In this weeks lesson, Wayne takes time to establish how the judicial implementation of the law was established and how it used Judges to provide opinions and enforce the law through the ministration of councils. We looked at Exod. 21:6, 22; 22:8-9 KJV and compared it to Matt. 5:23-24; 23:18-19 showing how was in place and being used in the Gospel period. Wayne then addressed a particular contradiction problem in Romans 3:31 and 2 Cor. 3:11 KJV. We were reminded of how the New Covenant was going to replace the Old Covenant because there would be a ministration of the spirt. See Jer. 31:31; Heb. 8:8, 13; 12:24. Also, 2 Cor. 1:22; 2:13; 3:3, 6, 8, 17-18; 4:13; 5:5; 7:1, 13; 11:4; 12:18. We see this through the Acts period. Now with the Apostle PAul, when The Mystery was revealed, he explained how to apply the law which is good when used lawfully. PAul now has the ministration of the law during this age so he is filtering which law that applies to us in this age (see 1 Tim 1:8-12 KJV).

The scripture reading was 2 Cor 3:1-6 “1 Do we begin again to commend ourselves? or need we, as some others, epistles of commendation to you, or letters of commendation from you? 2 Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men: 3 Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart. 4 And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward: 5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God; 6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.”
