Zeihan believes that some places, such as North America, Scandinavia, and Southeast Asia, will do well due to their favorable geography and demographics. He also mentions that Japan has already adapted to its poor demographics by focusing on automation and outsourcing to ensure that other countries with better demographics have a vested interest in the success of Japanese companies. He concludes by saying that while this shift away from globalization may seem negative, it is simply the end of a chapter and the start of a new era where the rules have changed and the geography of success will look more like it did before 1940.
