ESPN star, Stephen A. Smith suggested in his book that athletes should express their political views, but, first, get informed on the issues. He believes that athletes have a place in society in which they could be a positive influence. However, he added that athletes are held to a higher standard than elected officials and he disagreed with that notion. Should athletes have a microphone shoved in front of them to have them declare their beliefs?
