Tech giant Microsoft has announced that it will be laying off 10,000 employees, and here’s why.
Their CEO said the company will let go of up to five percent of its global workforce, with some employees being notified immediately.
The move is reportedly costing the company $1.2 billion in severance costs, changes to the hardware portfolio, and lease consolidation.
And it costs you nothing to follow this channel for free tech news which I think is a pretty good deal.
The move comes amid rumors that Microsoft may be investing $10 billion into OpenAI, which would incorporate its powerful text-generating algorithms into its Office platform and Bing.
So with all of that investment money & Windows still being a buggy mess, the timing of these news seems quite strange.
