77% Of Students At One Baltimore High School Read At Elementary, Kindergarten Level

In this video, we take a closer look at the literacy rates of Black, Asian, and White students in the United States and examine the underlying causes of these disparities. According to data from the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), Black students have lower literacy rates and graduation rates compared to White students. While, Asian students have higher literacy rates and graduation rates compared to White students. We will also explore the factors that contribute to these disparities, such as lack of funding for schools in Black and low-income communities, inadequate teacher training, and systemic racism. It's important to note that these statistics are based on the average of the entire population, and do not take into account the diversity within the different racial groups and the different socioeconomic backgrounds, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds that can affect the education outcomes. We will also discuss the steps that can be taken to address these disparities, such as investing in education in Black and low-income communities, increasing teacher diversity, and implementing anti-racist policies in schools.
