There is a lot to say about the New RYOBI 18V ONE+ HP Brushless 7-1/4" Circular Saw, Model PBLCS300B. Our testing is extensive and the video is long. I apologize for that but there is a ton to go over.
First, we were unable to adjust the saw so we could get a square cut. There is not enough adjustment in the saw and the shoe hit the bottom of the motor before the blade was square to the shoe.
Power-wise, this saw has a no-load RPM of 4,300, which is slower than most other DIY saws on the market, but it cut well with a variety of batteries and never heated up. We even did two full-depth cuts without much of an issue.
Dust control on the saw sucks. I was eating sawdust the full time cutting and there simply is no place for the sawdust to exit. I am very surprised at this because TTI makes a lot of nice saws and this area seemed to just be overlooked.
Dust Collection on this saw seems like an afterthought without someone even looking at how the saw works. The dust collection port is always covered by the lower saw blade guard. In our testing, we were not able to collect for than a tablespoon of sawdust while making cuts on sheet goods. That was sad because dust collection is important for our health. Beyond that, listed below are the vacuums that will work with the collection port. It is not a standard size.
This saw will work for many DIY people and it has the power to make most very happy. With a few small improvements, it could perform much better in its class. We do not expect this saw to have Milwaukee quality, but we do expect it to function as most other circular saws would.
The MSRP on this saw is $129.00 bare tool. You can get a corded saw that is light years ahead of this saw for $89.00
