Washington State Approves Bill for Interstate Marijuana Trade

A bill that would allow Washington State to participate in interstate marijuana commerce has been approved by a Senate committee. The legislation would allow the governor to enter into agreements with other states to permit imports and exports between state-licensed cannabis businesses, but would only take effect if there's a federal law change "to allow for the interstate transfer of cannabis" between legal businesses or if the US Department of Justice issues an opinion "allowing or tolerating" marijuana commerce across state lines. The bill still needs to pass through the Senate Rules Committee before it can be considered by the full Senate.
