The Insane Story of the Pizza Collar Bomber Heist

It’s the 28th of August 2003. At 2.28pm at a PNC bank in Erie, Pennsylvania, a man in a white shirt with the word “guess” scribbled on it and holding a cane walked into the bank. Underneath his shirt, is a suspicious looking bulge that attracts the attention of customers and staff alike.

He approaches one of the tellers and hands them a note. It reads:

“Gather employees with access codes to vault and work fast to fill bag with $250,000. You have only 15 minutes.”

The man would then lift his shirt, revealing a crude, pipe bomb secured to him.

The events of this bank robbery would spark an investigation that would last for years, and despite being officially solved, questions still remain which have many still burrowing through this rabbit hole to this day.
