An Unfortunate Event Is Costing Us A Fortune On Our Homestead

We’ve got a mixed bag coming at you today…one thing that we are INCREDIBLY GRATEFUL for and the other, well…it’s kinda bad and we're going to tell you about an unfortunate event is costing us a FORTUNE on the homestead!

We are Douglas and Keri and we recently quit our jobs, sold everything, and in September of 2022, after a lot of prayer and research, we took a leap of faith and moved onto our off grid homestead property in the high desert of Cochise County, Arizona. Follow along with us as we build our off grid homestead property from scratch with our two rebels, Willow & Zoey and our 16 y/o kitty, Boo.

So, let’s start with the good news first! YA'LL, we hit our subscriber goal this past week and we want to THANK YOU SO MUCH for all of your support, encouragement, and for just being the best and nicest subscribers…we are so excited about this! This whole project started as a way for us to document our journey so we could look back and be Encouraged by our progress because we knew this journey was going to be a difficult and challenging one. We have 4 adult children that we also wanted to document this for in the hopes that some day they may want to join us on this journey…we’ve got plenty of room, kids 😃

We decided to give our 1000th YouTube subscriber a Thank You gift and want to give a shout out and a Thank You to Althea M from Florida! Althea and her hubby are homesteading too and we are excited for their journey and pray it's a blessed one! Now, the bad news ☹️ We were getting ready to leave on a 2 day road trip to pick up something special and our VERY reliable 2013 Toyota FJ Cruiser started acting really funny….like all the dash lights were on, including the check engine light, and it sounded AWFUL…like it was missing and the exhaust sounded bad…something was not right. We took it to the mechanic and they let us know that we had MAJOR RODENT DAMAGE in the engine….to the tune of $4,000…UGH! We knew this was an issue out in the desert, BUT we have been watching the engine closely and had even installed an “anti-rodent” light, but apparently that did not work. We never could see any signs of rodent damage, so this was a shocker for us. Well, the something that we are picking up in Texas cannot be rescheduled, so we went and got a rental car and headed east to pick up…………………….
