St Bridgets /Brigid's day

Celebrated by Christians and Catholics on February 1st a remembrance of a once saint, who worked as a Christian Nun in Sweden. St Bridget worked in metal work and illumination. She carried a reputation of Holiness because of the work she did in the monasteries. She shared her name with a pagan goddess and therefore was stripped of her Saint title, it seems they shared many alignments.

The Pagan Goddess Bridget has her own beautiful story, one that echoes the Saint Bridget's metal work and illumination themes.

Brigid; the Goddess of eternal flame.

Bridget represents the essence of the inner dawn, the healing that comes from knowing that the best is yet to come. She is the Goddess of the pre-christian ireland.

She is associated with the Indo-European European Dawn Goddess, and the coming of spring. She is celebrated in Celtic festivals called embolic that take place halfway between winter and spring solstices.

It is said that at the moment between dusk and Daybreak she arose in the sky with flames like the Rays of sun blazing in her hair.

There is a shine near Kildare in Ireland that is sacred to The Druids because it was believed to have been the place where Bridget is priestesses tended to her eternal flame.

This is where they learned the ancient healing practices that are now associated with her.

This is where in 480 CE St Bridget built a monastery in honor of the Goddess who shared her namesake, and created a communal and consecrated center for women's religious life and learning.

Brigid is associated with poetry and with all things elevated; States of higher being, high raising flames, lofty dimensions, elevated wisdom.
