Brazil's coffee production history
Brazil became the world's top producer of coffee, a position it currently retains, as a result of the entry of immigrant laborers into the country's coffee business and the industrialization of its agricultural sector during the 19th century, when illness devastated Asia's coffee-growing areas.
The Brazilian government pledged to purchase all of the nation's coffee and hold it off the market until prices stabilized in an effort to alleviate the issue.
Brazil finally abandoned the ICA and established the Brazilian Specialty Coffee Association (BSCA) to turn the nation into a significant coffee producer after almost 30 years of emphasizing distribution demand rather than enhancing quality and innovation.
To discover, promote and recognize the country's high-quality coffee, Brazil
launched the "Cup of Excellence" jury competition.
