The equipment required to provide Behavior Threat Detection (BTD) is simple. Church security volunteers should provide a low-profile, while being accessible and maintaining preparedness. Low profile means that equipment should be concealable, accessible means that visitors and congregants should be able to recognize the security volunteer as a volunteer (or greeter), and preparedness means having the capability to respond to human threats, medical emergencies, and accidents.

Here’s some helpful and cost-effective gear:

1. Name tag and lanyard
2. Radio
3. Medical Response Equipment
4. Field Interview Notebook
5. APPs
