1. Didactic Psalms - Teaching and Instruction
2. The Messianic Psalms - Prophecies about Jesus Christ, The Messiah
3. Imprecatory Psalms - A cry out for God's wrath or justice from God's perspective, not man's.
4. Penitential Psalms - Feelings from a repentant heart and a yearning for divine cleansing.
5. Other Psalms are classified by their title or what they convey such as atonement in Psalm 16.
