Mta long island railroad vintage m1 train cars still in passenger service in 2023
M1s entered passenger service in the late 1960s or early 1970s then started to get replaced with the m3 cars in the 1980s
Most of the m1s have now been scrapped or retired from passenger service and used as work trains
Note the original trademark mta m1 blue stripes on the side of a few cars
The m1 cars in this video have been most likely rebuilt recently because the original blue stripes were removed after rebuilds many years ago
