I'm taking you to an Omega Boutique here in Orlando to pick up another Omega for my collection. This is the Omega Speedmaster Silver Snoopy Award 50th Anniversary time piece. I put a deposit down on this watch years ago and due to the world shutting down, production was delayed. Years later and it's finally arrived. This has a very complex design as it's the first speedmaster Omega has released with an animated case back. As the chronograph is activated, you'll see Snoopy fly through space in the Command/Service Module (CSM). You'll also notice the the earth is rotating as the seconds go by. This is a beautiful time piece that Omega has put out and I'm so happy that it finally came in.

This particular time piece was to commemorate Omega receiving the Silver Snoopy Award from NASA. This is a prestigious award given to someone when they've gone above and beyond to contribute to the success of a mission. Omega had provided watches for the astronauts to wear on there missions and during the Apollo 13 accident, the moonwatch was used to keep critical time of necessary engine burns for course corrections. Most of the systems onboard the spacecraft had to be shut down to reserve power and course corrections were executed manually. This was extremely difficult due to the lack of reference points and everything in constant motion or orbit. The crew also had to deal with a modified spacecraft as they used the Lunar Excursion Module (LEM) with the CSM attached to adjust course. The flight controls did not function properly with the CSM attached and the crew had to relearn to navigate the space craft.
