Alan Halse's cases in court. He has faced six SLAPPs - Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation. These are created and designed by corporate lawyers to stop regular people being able to afford court action. He spoke to the judge really well. He has been attacked in court by these corporate lawyers and by the ERA. Dragging out cases. Bringing in huge cost orders. Alan spoke of BoRA Sections 14 & 27. He told the court the ERA had broken the law. Squashing Freedom of Speech and subjecting Alan much more. A must listen

Liz has been educating the ERA about how the HSWA works....coercion, duties of the PCBU. Employees can be heard in the ERA. They dont have to go to the District Court to begin with. Liz has found ERA has been lazy in their decisions and have been letting things slide. Liz has reminded the members of Employment Relations Act 103 Personal grievance
S(I)For the purposes of this Act, personal grievance means any grievance that an employee may have against the employee’s employer or former employer because of a claim -
SS(J)that the employee’s employer has, in relation to the employee,—
(i)engaged in adverse conduct for a prohibited health and safety reason; or
(ii)contravened section 92 of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 (which prohibits coercion or inducement);

ERA Case as an example - O'Tamatea High School was having asbestos removed from the roof. The cleaner pursued a case of coercion. She was not successful but the judge explained where in the ER act coercion is unlawful.

Cost orders - Liz is appealing these for workers that have lost their jobs.
