Thunderstorm in the Andes Mountains

This audio capture was made during a thunderstorm near Chacaltaya mountain in Bolivia, surrounded by the majesty of the Andes ranges.

Thunderstorms in the Andes mountain range in Bolivia typically form in the afternoon and come from the east. This is due to the prevailing winds in the region, which bring moist air from the Amazon basin to the Andes, causing thunderstorms to develop. These storms can be quite intense, with heavy rainfall, hail, snow and strong winds sometimes arriving all at once.
