I've never seen Elk come down this far before

Before this year, I've never seen Elk come down this far off the mountain . This reeks of desperation on their part. Winter must be particularly bad this year. I counted at least 5 cow elk road kill on the highway going out of town. Three times that number of Mule Deer. You don't normally see elk as roadkill to begin with. Elk have also died eating poisonous shrubbery some people have planted on their properties. The winter kill is going to be particularly bad this year. I'll wager herd losses will be exceedingly high by the time spring comes. If I can't get a tag this year, I don't think I'll mind it too much.
