“The Matrix Resurrections” is open us, and according to Indiewire’s David Erlich, it is “the boldest & most vividly personal Hollywood sequel since The Last Jedi.”
The “Star Wars The Last Jedi” comparison means different things to different people, and to regular moviegoers, it is a shorthand for “avoid”.
That a Star Wars movie can be used in such a manner is however news to other fandoms who are only learning of this concept now, as their favorite properties are getting the Last Jedi treatment.
In this video then, we will as a public service re-iterate to those who came in late exactly what the Last Jedi did, and why most people would consider that bad that treatment was applied to anything they like. Further illustrating the point, we’ll apply it to some other franchises where the fanbase either is in the process of, or soon about to learn what it really means, namely The Wheel of Time, Sex and the City, and finally, Lord of the Rings.
Finally, we’ll look into what happens after the The Last Jedi treatment has been applied, as we look into the current state of Star Wars, shortly before the premiere of Book of Boba Fett on Disney Plus.
