On May 14th of 2022, Bleeding Cool first disseminated the rumors that Marvel’s license agreement to create stories featuring Conan the Barbarian and other Robert E. Howard characters was coming to an end, as rightsowner Heroic Signatures went into self publishing with their own line of Conan and Robert E. Howard Books. Two days later, Fredrik Malmberg, the keeper of Conan Legend, confirmed the rumors to largely be accurate. Let’s break it down, and put it into context.
