DIY Off-grid Brooder

Because we're off grid and limited to our battery bank for power, we need to limit our electricity expenditures. We purchased a low-wattage heat plate for the poultry and we are also exploring a non-electric option with heated water bottles. Which will the birds choose to employ? I guess we'll find out soon.
