New Mazda CX-90 midsize SUV just debuted and the Japanese automaker revealed some surprising facts about the new model. The 2024 Mazda CX-90 is the most powerful Mazda in the brand’s portfolio. The Mazda CX-90 has great powertrain options. The midsize SUV can come with an available e-Skyactiv G 3.3-liter turbocharged V6 engine. It makes 340 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. That’s a lot of torque for a midsize SUV.
The new CX-90 also has a plug-in hybrid powertrain option that consists of a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, an electric motor, and a 17.8 kWh battery. The CX-90 PHEV produces 323 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. The Mazda CX-9 midsize SUV has a maximum power output of 250 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque.
The Japanese automaker is determined to give its new midsize SUV exciting driving dynamics. In fact, the CX-90 has the potential to be the brand’s sportiest SUV made for the United States ever. That’s a bold statement considering the performance of Mazda CX-5 upper trim levels.
