Putting Hard Sides On Popup Camper For Melanie

Now that I have some swimming pool sheet metal I can finish Melanie's craft camper. This was an old popup camper with no slide out sides. The sides were wide open to the elements.

Melanie and I had previously put in plywood sheets to close off the sides. But we had no metal to finish it off. We have been using tarps to keep out the weather since then.

Now though with the swimming pool sheet metal we could finish the camper properly.

I cut the pieces to fit the sides of the camper and hauled them over to the work area.

Chris helped me hold the pieces in place as I screwed them in using proper roofing screws with rubber washers.

The camper is already looking so much better.

With the sides closed in I next used some tar tape to seal off the gaps.

I want to later put in some metal roofing trim to properly close it off and make it look nice.

I spent most of the day working on the camper. I worked on the heater, fridge and the cook stove. I got the stove working nicely but to get the fridge and heater going I need to put in a battery.

But there is no battery connection in the camper. I am going to have to make a battery connector later in order to use these appliances.

Melanie is pleased with her craft camper so far.
