Making All Natural Homemade Pasta Noodles

This is a very simple project. Melanie mixed flour and water in the kitchen as I was setting up the machine and a work space.

You will need a lot of space to make pasta because the strips of dough will need to dry a while before you can cut it.

After the dough ball is mixed up you let it rest a few minutes.

This hand crank pasta maker is very simple. There are two stages. First you roll out the dough. Then you cut the pasta into strips.

We put a piece of dough into the machine and cranked the handle to roll it out flat.

You start on the widest setting and then move to the smallest one click at a time.

I used a lot of flour in between each step to keep the dough from sticking.

Once the dough is flat, you let it rest and dry for 10 minutes.

Then we put on the pasta cutting attachment.

Now we took a sheet of dough and run it through the cutter.

As you cut the pasta, you can use your other hand to catch it and pull it out straight. This allows you to put it onto the drying racks easier.

The pasta sits on the drying racks for a day or two depending on the humidity and temperature in your home.

When it is dry you can put it in containers to store it. It is easy to break up into the sizes you want.

Later Melanie made a batch of pasta for us using the wider noodles. It turned out very good.
