Moving Into Our Tiny House ~ Chalet ~ For The Winter

The Chalet is more insulated than the trailer and has much better windows.

The trailer windows leak and the walls are thin. We figured it would cost about $15,000 to fix it up and winterize the trailer. This is in no way possible this year.

The Chalet is a tiny house by all means. It is better insulated and has much thicker walls. The tiny house also has double hung windows with built in storm windows and some are also double glass.

The tiny house was always cooler in summer which told me that it was better insulated because the trailer got hot. And on cold mornings the Chalet/tiny house was never much below 60 degrees F whereas the trailer was only 10 degrees F over the outdoor temperature.

We had scorching hot days and freezing cold nights this year so we are talking from experience already.

Melanie and I moved our bedding and necessary items into the tiny house today. We also moved out anything that did not belong such as my survival gear and electronics.

The tiny house also has three bedrooms so it is better for raising a family in. Each person can have their own room.

It was sort of slow going because I was groggy from a wasp sting and the medications I was taking. Melanie is very much nearing the end of her pregnancy so she is a bit slower too.

But we got the job done for the day. We got all the necessities for our first night into the tiny house.
