Building Stuff In Tiny House With Reclaimed Lumber

I sorted through the old barn wood pile and found a post to install in my off grid tiny house. Then I used some pallet wood to build cabinet for our clothes.

It took me some time but eventually I found the perfect barn wood post to use in the off grid tiny house on wheels. I wanted to put in a post ever since we built in the addition to expand the loft. I wanted to put our clothes in the small area at the top of the stairs but I could not put any weight there until I had support underneath.

Finally the day has come. It took me an hour to get the post out of the barn wood pile once I found the right piece. Then I hauled this massive tree over to the work bench where I could cut it.

This is a huge 100 year old piece of rough sawn lumber from an old barn that was demolished. I got lucky enough to get the wood dumped at my property for use in projects and tiny house construction.

I cut the piece to fit and pushed it into place at the base of the stairs. It is perfect.

I will fasten it later after it dries out and finishes shrinking in case I need to wedge it.

Next I went through the pallets that I had stored in the wood tent. I found some wood that will work for the job I had planned.

I pried apart the pallet wood and took out all the nails. Then I built myself a cabinet to put upstairs in the tiny house loft at the top of the stairs. I have a 2 foot by 4 foot area there where I wanted to store out clothes.

Next I put in some plywood for shelves. Now we can put our clothes away in our new cabinet. Soon I will close in the sides and put on a door as well.
