It can be difficult to make your own choices after being in an environment where others have made decisions and choices for you because you may become accustomed to relying on others for guidance and direction. To no fault of your own but to be a fault in your future. Over time, you may internalize the belief that you are not capable of making decisions on your own, or you may have lost touch with your own wants and needs. You may question your own choices for yourself or you may not even notice that you depend on others opinions and ideas to guide you.

If you have been in an environment where others have made decisions for you, you may not have had the opportunity to practice decision-making skills, which can be a very damaging environment to try and grow as a human in. Especially when it begins at a young age and how you develop. Making decisions requires confidence, self-awareness, and the ability to weigh the pros and cons of different options. If you have not had the opportunity to develop these skills, it can be challenging to know where to start when it comes to making your own choices in life and possibly lead you down the wrong path all together. It would be no wonder at that point why you may feel so lost and confused on where you are or where you are trying to go.

Making your own choices can be challenging because it requires taking responsibility for the outcomes of those choices. If you have been used to others making decisions for you, you may not be accustomed to taking ownership of the consequences of those decisions and accountability can be hard. This can make it feel scary or overwhelming to take the reins to make your own choices, but it is a huge part of your growth, both mentally and environmentally in the things you build for your life and future.

Making your own choices after being in an environment where others have dictated your choices can be difficult, but it is a skill that can be developed with time and attention just like anything else. It may require some self-reflection and support from others, but taking the time to learn how to make decisions on your own can lead to greater autonomy and a stronger sense of self. It's a very important part of learning and connecting with yourself... But remember, on the days that you struggle finding your way, I'll be here... with snacks.
