Had An Ultrasound Today & Got More Chickens

Today Melanie went in for her ultrasound and we found if we are having a boy or a girl. We also got more chickens while in town.

I had no idea how long an ultrasound took nor how many images they take while testing. It was very interesting. We decided to see if it was a boy or a girl because so many people are asking us. This makes it easier for family and friends to buy gifts.

So we found out that we are having a baby girl.

It is interesting how seeing the ultrasound made it more real for us. We knew of course that we were having a baby but seeing it really makes things seem more real. Its hard to explain.

Melanie and I are very happy. Our baby will be named Michelle Reid. We are still thinking of the middle name.

While in town we also picked up some more chickens. We are planning to provide our own food this year, which includes meat.

We bought all the broilers they had - 12 of them. And three more chicks that were in stock. We also ordered 15 more chickens for next week. These will be a walking food lager for later in the year.

I do not like to kill animals but we do eat meat and it is cleaner to raise your own than to buy them from the store.

We are also taking orders for chickens from our friends and neighbors.

We are going to be building chicken tractors to allow the birds to eat bugs and grass by day to offset the cost of feed and also make the birds healthier.

It was very hot and humid so we actually did not get anything else done with the day after we got home and settled in.
