Snowy Homestead ~ Hunting ~ Making Pallet Wood Products

We got about three inches of snow in the night. The off grid homestead was all white in the morning. I had to clear off the solar panels to get some power in the tiny house on wheels.

The weather is getting very cold these days and snow is falling. We had some thick snow in the morning. The solar panels were pure white so I had to go up on a ladder and clear them off. Many people have asked me how I would handle this and here is the answer. Just a ladder and a broom.

Melanie made a snow man later when she was taking care of the chickens but it melted before I got my camera out. The snow did not last long.

Melanie and I went out into the woods to walk the entire perimeter of the property looking for deer tracks in the snow. There was a rumor that an old man who used to hunt these woods illegally sold the hunting rights this year to a gun club when we were in Michigan for Thanksgiving. I am starting to believe this is true.

There were so many deer out here the past years that I always saw deer literally every day. They were in our yard. They were eating our garden. During our walk we did not see any tracks at all near the back half of the property. There are no deer left at all back where last year I saw 20 deer in a single morning.

There are two deer left up front near the off grid tiny house on wheels and another deer out a little ways farther. Other than that there is nothing to be found.

I got a load of pallet wood the other day. In this pallet wood I see coffee coasters and bird houses. I immediately brought the wood home and processed it into individual boards for later working in the wood shop.

I am cleaning up the Christian Camper which will be my off grid work shop. I got it a while back but never used it for this purpose yet.

Melanie and I are making pallet wood coffee coasters for sale. They are turning out nice. I have to put one more coat of varnish on them and then they will be ready for sale and shipping out to customers. Many people already purchased some. Thank you.
