Greenhouse Thermosiphon Wood Boiler Heating Working & More

Chris helped me get water into the greenhouse heater water tanks. We have two 55 gallon drums connected together. These tanks are connected to an antique wood stove water boiler.

Heated water from the wood stove flows on its own through the pipes into the water tanks. The tanks full of water act as a thermal mass to help retain heat after the wood stove goes out at night.

During the extreme cold winter nights this system will hopefully keep our greenhouse vegetables growing strong. We hope to be able to provide food for our family all year long in our off grid greenhouse.

Chris brought over his little HF generator and we used my sump pump to pump water from the greenhouse rain water collection tank into the 55 gallon steel barrels. We used a long garden hose to reach around and into the greenhouse.

For now we only filled one tank. I want to do a test burn and make sure the thermosyphon system works before I fill up both tanks.

I got a fire going in the antique Sears Roebuck wood stove boiler and water soon started to flow through the system.
