The primary characteristics of a friend according to God's Word are: love, deep sharing, self-sacrifice, encouragement, stimulation, spiritual challenge, loyalty and fun. "Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep" Romans 12:15. We should "bare one another's burdens" Galatians 6:2 with our friends. We should build close and meaningful relationships with our brothers and sisters in Christ. "Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another" Romans 12:10.
