TAER: “Mr. Secretary, what do you have to say — hi, how are you? Jennie Taer at the Daily Caller News Foundation. What do you have to say to the folks in Ohio, East Palestine, who are suffering right now?”
Buttigieg: “Well, I’d refer you to about a dozen interviews I’ve given today. And if you’d like to [inaudible] conversation, be sure to reach out to our press office about it. I don’t want to have that conversation with you just walking down the street here.”
TAER: “You don’t have a message for them?”
Buttigieg: “I do. And I shared it with the press many times today. I’d refer you to those comments.”
TAER: “You mind sharing it with us?”
Buttigieg: “No, I’m gonna refer you to the comments I made to the press because right now I’m taking some personal time and I’m walking down the street.”
TAER: “Are you going down there?”
Buttigieg: “What’s that?”
TAER: “Are you going down there at all?”
Buttigieg: “Um, yeah, I am.”
TAER: “When are you going?”
Buttigieg: “I’ll share that when I’m ready, not talking to you on the street. Can I get a photo of you?”
TAER: “Yeah.”
