Webinar | Is Ukraine the CCP’s First Front?
Is the PRC Arming Russia and the Prospects for a Second Front in the Pacific
In the course of the Werkunde Security Conference in Munich last weekend, U.S. officials warned that the Chinese Communist Party is contemplating sending arms to Russia in support of its invasion of Ukraine and, as Secretary of State Tony Blinken put it, “that would cause a problem for us.” In fact, the CCP has already been financing the Vladimir Putin’s war with its imports of Russian energy, food and other commodities from the Kremlin.
Three questions immediately occur:
1) Is it likely that the Chinese Communists have also been covertly providing weapons to its “No-Limits” Partner in Moscow?
2) Whether such transfers have already occurred or are still in the offing, what can – and will – America do, if anything, to alleviate such a “problem”? And
3) Either way, is the CCP benefiting from the Putin’s raging war in Ukraine and, if so, what does that portend for it opening a second, bloody front in the Pacific?
This CPDC webinar examines these and related topics on the eve of the first anniversary of Putin’s latest invasion of Ukrainian territory.
