CNN has a history of going on "exclusive" Navy plane trips near China

We've seen almost identical stories in 2015 and 2018, to the one recently reported, where CNN is given "exclusive" access in a US Navy plane and then afterward provides alarmist news coverage of the radio warnings. It's worth noting that there was a different president in office for each of these 3 visits. What is the point of these CNN plane trips flirting with the Chinese military? So far the majority of their reporting is focused on radio communications that it admits are common and routine, yet still treats it as a sign of increased tensions. Why does CNN keep trying to fan the flames with China?
