Tying Up Grape Vines & Growing Fire Wood Pile

Melanie is quite amazing in the kitchen. She makes everything herself from scratch. This time she made her own pizza rolls and they were very good.

I am working out in the garden full blast these days to get it all ready in time. We hope to become self sufficient within a year or two and this means providing our own food throughout the entire year.

I am now staking up the grape vines to train them across the wires as the pros do. This keeps them off the ground, which prevents pest and disease plus it allows them to get more sunlight. More sunlight equals more grapes.

I had to get some T posts at TSC because I could not find the same fence posts that I used on the other side. I had wanted both sides to look the same but that is just not possible.

I drove in the T posts in a row and then got some electric fence wire scraps and wrapped them around the posts and ran the wire in between them forming lines for the grapes to grow on.

Next I used Jute Twine to tie the grape vines up off the ground and begin training them to grow along the wires neatly.

I finished just in time before we had to leave for church for the day.

Chris had been working out in the wood pile. So far we have about a cord and a half of wood out in the wood shed. But there is a whole lot more wood that I have cured and waiting to be cut. Chris has been sorting and stacking the wood into piles based on what work needs to be done to it.
