Working On My Off Grid Tiny House Porch

I removed the screen door of my new tiny house porch and reworked the framing for it to make it stronger.

I had been considering the framing and how to improve it. In the end, I removed most of the door framing and rebuilt the entire thing. I ended up using one less piece of wood and a much better structure.

I had hastily put on the screen door the other day and did not put on the sheathing first.

So I decided to properly finish the porch and put on the sheathing. This takes time because I am hauling broken and bent up barn wood from a pile out in the forest. I have to sort through the pile to find good boards. Then I have to haul them out to my work space. Then pull out all the nails. But it is all free and this is good.

I managed to get the entire door framing finished and get a piece of sheathing on before I had to leave for an appointment.

I did get back early enough that I was able to finish the sheathing on the front of the porch before it got too dark out. I then tried the door to see how it fit. It was a good fit and I like the looks of it.

I will put the door on tomorrow though because I have to put spacers under the latch to make it fit properly.

All I have left to finish is to put sheathing on the other side of the porch and then add shelving inside.

Later I will put on tar paper and siding to match the tiny house on wheels.
