Finished Insulating Off Grid Tiny House

I finally finished insulating the tiny house on wheels. This is almost something to celebrate for many people as they watched me work on the tiny house this last year.

It takes a lot of work to build an off grid tiny home using recycled materials. I have built this house mostly using reclaimed lumber or second hand materials.

My windows and door were second hand. The kitchen sink and stove top were used. The bathroom sink and fixtures were second hand. The entire kitchen is built out of used pallet wood and wood scraps.

My paneling is all homemade using scrap lumber that I cleaned up myself.

The OSB on the walls was all from packing crates from a small engine shop. This wood takes a long time to prepare because it is full of staples and nails.

But finally I got the upstairs loft study insulated. Melanie will be here soon and I have to get the place insulated. I can handle it a bit cooler but she cannot.

Next I have to work on the furring strips. Then comes the radiant foil to keep the heat in during winter and keep the heat out in summer. Then comes more furring strips. And then the paneling.

I do not have internet in the evenings anymore so I have to work on the computer during the mid day hours when nobody is online. The problem is that there is only one internet service provider in the area and they have too many people on the lines. This means that in the evenings when the kids are home playing their online games, I cannot get on at all.

So I have to work in the daytime, wasting valuable daylight hours. But there is no other option for now.

I am working on a webpage with commonly asked questions and answers that I see all the time on the comments. Some people actually get angry if I do not answer them. Some people start to think I am hiding something if I do not answer a question that has been asked again and again. I get thousands of comments per day so it is hard to give detailed answers to these questions each day.

So I will have a webpage with answers to these questions. In the future I can just point people to those answers and everyone will be happy.
