It has been in the upper 80s and upper 90s the past week. Considering that just about a week ago I had ice in a bucket, this is really hot. The grass suddenly grew almost overnight. It is already about 12 inches in place and in desperate need of cutting.

I got out the old lawn mower and fired it up. It seemed to be missing a bit so I checked the spark plug. It looks like it has been running rich. I cleaned the plug and put it back in for now. I have to get the grass cut asap.

Sadly the mower quit on me when I was nearly finished with the job. It needs a carb cleanout. I fear there may have been water in the gas at the end of the season last year because it was stalling out on me when I put it away.

I actually got out the air conditioner because it has been so hot. I am using the harbor freight generator to power it. I figure that a gallon of gas is a cheap price to pay in order to be able to get some work done. Otherwise I just sit around drinking water and trying to keep cool.

With the air conditioner at least it is comfortable in the tiny house on wheels.

All my fruit trees are doing well. Even the one that was badly eaten by deer is going to make it. I will let the little ones grow as they want for the first couple years before I prune them. They are so tiny. I got them last year at TSC for only $12.99 which is not bad at all for a fruit tree.

There are some wild grape vines on the outer edge of my meadow that I want to nurture and set up to climb a trellis. I will have to get out there and make a trellis out of the brush that I got from cutting the trees. This will give the grapes a place to climb and grow nicely for me.

I also plan to mow around the area where the grape vines are growing to keep the bugs down and allow me to get out there to the grapes and wild blueberries.

I explain in more detail how I want to set up the chicken range. I hope to have the chickens free ranging in the entire meadow. I want them to be able to eat all the bugs and weeds that they want. If they were free ranging in the meadow right now I would not have to feed them at all. In the long run this will save me a lot of money.

I want the chickens to be outside the meadow into the woods a bit on all sides. They will be able to range around the work and storage tents so they can eat ticks and bugs. They also eat mice and chipmunks if they can get one. This will help me as well.

The chicken fence will run behind the tents, back around the work shop camper, behind the RV and out behind the tiny house on wheels.

This will give me a tick free zone all the way around the entire area.

Having the area fenced in will have the added benefit of keeping out predators and ranging animals which can drop more ticks into my meadow at night.
