Live Update On Tiny House Siding & Many Packages Arrived Today

This is a live update recorded today and uploaded today. This is breaking my normal flow of video uploads but I felt it is very important to show this update since people are actually unsubscribing due to my putting pallet wood shake siding on my tiny house - the wrong way.

I have spent many hours reading comments and suggestions to see what is the correct way. I have spent many hours studying online how to properly install shingle siding to keep out the water.

I have spent time out in the rain watching how it hits my new siding and how it runs off the siding. How the wood looks and feels during and after the rain.

I have analyzed my options and weight limits of the tiny home.

I cannot afford to put on the weight of the roughly 300 pallets it would require to put on the shake siding "properly". It would weigh about 9,000 pounds in pallet wood alone. This is unacceptable.

In building a tiny house on wheels which must remain mobile, but on a budget, I have had to make a lot of compromised along the way. But so far my tiny house has stood strong in wind, rain, heavy snow and everything nature could through at it.

It has not leaked, creaked, bent or fallen during this time.

I have learned a lot from you, my viewers, and thank you for that.

But I must still make compromises and changes in order to keep within my budget and also the weight limits of a tiny house on wheels.

I have decided to continue installing the pallet wood shake siding as I have been but with one major change.

I will run a strip of tar paper under each row of shingles. This will prevent any water from getting behind any row of shingles. This will preserve and prolong the life of the shingle siding on my tiny house.

This will also water proof my siding without adding too much weight. And it will still look beautiful.

I received a bunch of packages today.

Ontario Knife Company has been kind enough to send me their RAT model 1 folding pocket knife. My first impression of this knife is that it seems like a good quality product.

SurvivalMetrics.com sent me a package as well with some survival bandanas to check out. There are also some cool rolled up survival sunglasses. These are flexible, compact and great for emergencies or survival situations.

I also got a pair of cables for my HF multimeter. I am not sure who sent it but thank you.

And my book on Aquaponics arrived today. I was anxiously waiting for this for a couple weeks now. Thanks to many of my viewers I got interested in the idea and am now taking it very seriously.

I plan to have an aquaponics system here at the off grid homestead which will provide me with fresh vegetables and fish all year round. This will be housed inside my porch/greenhouse which will be passively heated by the sun during the day and by my excess heat from the tiny house wood stove at night.

All winter I had one to three windows open at all times just to let out the extra heat from my tiny house wood stove. With the greenhouse plan I have that extra heat will be useful to keep me fed with fresh greens and fish all winter long.
