Setting Up My Off Grid Wood Shop

I am setting up an outdoor off grid wood shop so I can work on my tiny house and wood projects no matter what the weather brings.

This is going to be an off grid, solar powered wood shop. For the most part the wood shop will be solar powered. The solar power will be used to power LED lighting in my wood shop and to charge my Ryobi battery powered hand tools. Any larger tools will require a generator to power. But again for the most part my wood shop will be fully solar powered.

I first had to clean out the wood shop tent. I cleaned out the area where the shelves will go. Then I set up the plastic shelving which will hold my tools.

Next, of course, I put all my tools on the shelves. This includes all fasteners, nails and screws. I will organize them better later on but for now I wanted to get them back inside the tent because it has been raining this year just about every day and is threatening to rain on this day.

Now came the hard work. I emptied out the wood pile in the corner of the wood shop tent. This is mostly tiny house wood. The beautiful wood slats which will be used for my kitchen. The trim and siding scraps that will be used in finishing my tiny house. And the pallet wood scraps I had put in there to keep dry.

After I got the entire tent cleaned out I then raked the ground to remove all leaves and debris. This reduces the humidity in the tent some and gives me a cleaner environment to work in.

The humidity and heat were insane on this day so I had to call it quits and rest a bit after doing this project.

The next project is to build shelves in the wood shop tent and put my construction materials inside the tent, neatly on the shelves.

I am doing all of this so that I can continue work on the tiny house on wheels this summer and fall. I was waiting for the dry season but it never came this year.
